Who is behind this
Salām ʿalaykum, I’m Younes, the person behind Rifāq.
Al Hoceima is where my family comes from, and somewhere I’ve returned to throughout my life. Like many of us who grew up abroad, it’s a place I’ve always felt connected to.
I’ve spent several years working with children and young people, and I’ve often thought about what we could create for them back home.
Something they could look forward to every summer. Somewhere to make friends, try new things, grow closer to Allah and build memories of their own in Al Hoceima.
That’s where Rifāq began.
It’s still at the beginning, and I don’t want to build it alone. I hope families, volunteers and people who care about this city will help shape what it becomes.
May Allah put khayr in it and keep our intentions sincere.

For a few weeks each summer, children who live in Al Hoceima and children returning from abroad find themselves in the same city. Yet many spend those weeks in separate worlds.
Rifāq wants to bring them together. Not as hosts and visitors, but as companions. To play, explore, pray and build friendships that give them something to look forward to next summer.
For some, Al Hoceima is home all year. For others, it’s where they return every summer. We want both to have friendships and memories of their own here.

Rifāq begins with the children. The longer intention is to build something in Al Hoceima that outlasts a single summer.
